Ever since I was little, I have always been intruged with Ancient Egypt. The culture, the gods, and just their way of life. So come with me, back to the time of Cleopatra and beyond! We're going home, to ANCIENT EGYPT!

You may have heard of heiroglyphics before. However, I am almost certain, many of you have never used, or understood them. On the bottom of the page you see how the name Cleopatra was spelled. All the shapes stand for a different sound. They did not use it as our modern day alphabet. They used the images for the sounds that were associated with them.

Ancient Gods and Facts
|
The ancient Egyptians believed in life after death. They thought that the dead person's soul traveled to the underworld, which they called Duat. There it would undergo a series of trials and ordeals to reach the next world, they called the Kingdom of the West.
To ensure that a sould enjoyed the eternal life in the next world, the body was preserved by a process called mummification. As you can see on the left, the god Anubis is embalming. Wealthy Egyptians were buried in ornamented coffins in decorated tombs. Simple people's mummies were buried in holes. The one god that ruled all was Re, the sun god. He was the king of all gods!
